Santa Paws is on a Mission

By Genevieve Frederick | Founder/President

This year Santa Paws is on a Mission to help pet companions of people experiencing homelessness receive much needed pet food and emergency veterinary care. The winter months are here and these pets are exposed to the elements that the cold brings. This exposure means they need supplies to keep them warm and treatment if they are ill or injured while living on the streets with their companion.

Our team has been working all year long to provide support to these precious animals. Over 1,900 visits to veterinary hospitals have been approved for pets across the country to receive care and there are many more waiting to be seen.

Your support has helped pets like Lyanna and her owner. Here's their story.

Hi, my name is Lyanna and I am a two-year-old female Golden Retriever. I am a registered service dog.

My Mom and I had been homeless living in a shelter when I was let out the door while my mom was in the shower, and I was hit by a car.

The shelter manager informed my mom about Feeding Pets of the Homeless.  An intake was completed, and an exam was approved at a local veterinary hospital. .
Following the exam, it was discovered that I would need surgery to repair my injured hip.  Feeding Pets of the Homeless approved my surgery for $624.

Recently, Lyanna's owner followed up and shared this with us:

"I wanted to thank you again for helping my best friend while I was homeless. I was at a shelter when someone let my dog out and was hit by a car (I was showering). She required surgery to save her leg. You paid for it when I was unable to get funds. That was 2 years ago and I'm happy to tell you that we have a home and she's fully recovered and jumps around like a kangaroo in the outback again. Her name is Lyanna and she's my everything. She warns me if I'm going to have seizures and comforts me when I do. I wouldn't have made it through the last 3 years if I didn't have her to tell me I'm still loved. I thank you for saving my bestie's leg and for saving my life by helping her to be my reason to carry on." -Lyanna's mom

Santa Paws Helpers like yourself make a difference in not just one life but two. Be a part of our mission to save more pets!
