Hi my name is Blue. I am an 11-year-old female Pitbull and been with my Mom since I was a puppy. My Mom and I have been homeless for the past 2 years living in our vehicle in Los Angeles CA. We are receiving disability and SNAP benefits (food stamps). But SNAP doesn't allow dog food to be purchased.
My Mom reached out to Feeding Pets of the Homeless because I had some very fast-growing masses on my leg that were bleeding.
An intake interview was completed, and homelessness was verified by a social worker that is trying to get us housing. An exam was approved.
Following my exam, it was determined that my leg could not be fixed and it needed to be amputated. An amputation was going to cost $3,000 dollars and my mom had no way of paying this. The only other option would be euthanasia.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless' case manager assisted my Mom with many resources but days went by and she did not hear anything back. My case manager didn’t want to give up on me so she called the doctor to see what could be worked out so I could have my surgery.
The kind doctor agreed to an amount that Feeding Pets of the Homeless could pay and my surgery was a success!
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $1,700 towards my care.
I am very thankful for all the assistance since I provide protection for my Mom. It saved my life.
Your donations saved Blue's life!
Hi, my name is Chapo, and I am a 2-year-old intact male Pitbull. My Dad and I have been living in a tent in Long Beach, CA.
My dad reached out to Feeding Pets of the Homeless because I was attacked by another dog and had an injury to my paw. An intake interview was completed, and an exam was approved. Following the exam, I needed some wound care and pain meds.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless assisted with $223 towards my care.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless previously assisted my Dad when I was having a severe skin issue.
I am very thankful for the assistance once again. Living in a tent is not ideal but my home is with my Dad and I give me love and companionship.
Once again with your donations we helped Chapo!
At Feeding Pets of the Homeless data is kept on every case and call that comes to our headquarters. The most common dog breed that we help are Pet Bull Terriers (33%) followed by Chihuahuas (23%).
Last year over 46,400 calls were recorded and over 2,200 pets helped. Veterinary care increased by 18% to over $1.3 million which was paid at time of service to a veterinary hospital. Watch for our annual report in the coming months.
Thank you for your support!
