Nga is a 21 years old girl who just graduated from the Graphic Design course at REACH. She comes from Dong Yen in Hanoi.
Nga is the oldest sister in a big family with 3 siblings who are still going to school. Nga’s father is self-employed in unstable labor, and her mother is a farmer with a low income.
Nga was born with spina bifida that made her unconfident about her appearance. After finishing grade 12, she decided not to go on to higher education because of her family’s economic challenges. She also thought that going to school would not improve her future.
"I always thought I would never be able to get a job," Nga said. "Therefore, after graduation, I just stayed at home and didn’t know what to do with my life."
One day, Nga came across a REACH advertisement on Facebook. Nga realized that REACH was the place for her. She was advised by the center to study Graphic Design, an industry that is in need of labor. Many young people at REACH, like Nga, have studied and succeed in this field.
Nga came to REACH in March 2019.
“Studying at REACH was a wonderful experience that I never expected. Learning IT was not as difficult as I thought, and the course was not boring,” Nga excitedly recalled. “At REACH, we participated in many different activities such as life skills, extracurricular activities, worksite visits, practicing job interviews, and work readiness skills.”
Like most of the students at REACH, Nga was incredibly optimistic and energetic.
“Nga never skipped any lessons and never came late”. Graphic design teacher, Ly Van Hiep, said. “She inspired all of us so much with her amazing positive attitude and persistence. Everyone liked her. I think Nga has all of the values that every employer looks for in their employees.”
After graduation Nga joined Revina, a social enterprise specializing in information technology founded by REACH.
"The working environment here is extremely youthful and dynamic," Nga says. "I'm still an apprentice right now. The biggest challenge for me is to be constantly creative at work."
Nga is progressing very fast and is greatly appreciated at work.
"I want my life to have value and to be useful," Nga says. "Since studying at REACH, I have built up my beliefs and aspirations, and that is what has helped me move forward."
