It’s time for another update on our Sports Project!
Things are in full swing at the Helping Hands School. After the netting was set up around the sports pitch that we reported on last time, close to 200 students per day are receiving sports training as part of their educational curriculum. This is a great start to our programme, and the children are enjoying their sports lessons immensely.
For our larger community sports complex in Prasat Cha, we are still awaiting permission to begin the official build. The land is secured, and our team is ready to go. However, we cannot begin construction work without the go-ahead from government officials. Things move a little more slowly in Cambodia than we would like, but we remain optimistic that our permit will come through soon. We will of course keep you updated as we make progress in this area!
Temple Run
The children at Helping Hands also recently competed in our annual “Temple Run”, which helps raise funds for the school. Three teams of students participated in the relay race around the local temple in the village. Donors sponsored the students and teams, and members of the community came out to cheer on the competitors, which was great motivation for them to run as fast as they could!
The children’s physical education in school was sure to have played a crucial role in their preparation for the race, and it was a great exercise in sportsmanship and teamwork. Everyone had tons of fun!
