Hello everyone,
Sport classes have become an integral part of the curriculum at Helping Hands School. This year it has been important to re-establish their place in the schedule and look at how to ensure the classes remain accessible and enjoyable for the students. Over the last three months, we have taken on two new coaches, and brought the sports classes back to our outreach partner schools. The teachers and students at these schools were all very pleased to see the return of our team, and grateful for the opportunity to have structured physical activity in their programs again.
The classes follow a classic P.E. style, with a warm-up, skill practice, and team games. There are currently 334 students enrolled at the school, with the majority being in the lower age groups, so it is fantastic that they are all able to have an hour of sports class every day.
With the support of the Head Sports Coach and the Globalteer Project Management Team, the Sports Outreach Program can now follow the same successful strategy that has been used at Helping Hands School. In terms of skills and activities, the classes will have the same progression and style, and just need to be adapted to fit each group of students.
There are two main areas for growth that will need to be addressed in the months ahead: Curriculum development and support with resources. The classes already work well, but they can be complemented by adding new classes that expose the students to different kinds of games, and more general health and fitness. Once that happens, there will be an increased scope for different activities that will allow children to have the physical education that is vital to their development.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and we would be happy to discuss our programs in more detail with you.
Best,
Daniel
