Summary

Soaring inflation in Nigeria has tripled the cost of school supplies, threatening to push 400 vulnerable students in Kaduna out of the classroom. We provide essential backpacks, books, and stationery to keep them learning. This project bridges the gap for families forced to choose between food and education, ensuring that temporary poverty does not steal a child's permanent future. We keep children off the streets and in school where they belong.

Challenge

In Kaduna, a 300% hike in stationery prices forces families to make a heartbreaking choice: buy food or buy books. Students appearing without basic supplies face social stigma, academic exclusion, and eventual dropout, fueling a cycle of poverty in an already unstable region. Currently, 400 bright children are at immediate risk of leaving school simply because they cannot afford a pencil and notebook. They are eager to learn but lack the fundamental tools to participate.

Solution

We will equip 400 at-risk students with complete "Back-to-School Kits," containing a durable backpack, 12 exercise books, and a full math and stationery set. Partnering with local school administrators, we verify and target orphans and zero-income households to ensure aid reaches those most in need. This direct intervention removes the financial barrier to attendance, allowing parents to focus meager resources on nutrition while we ensure the child has the tools to learn.

Long-Term Impact

Education is the only sustainable exit from poverty; by keeping 400 children in school, we are preserving the next generation of Kaduna's leaders. This project prevents dropouts, reduces youth vulnerability to extremism, and boosts community morale. Ultimately, we are not just handing out books; we are securing 400 futures, ensuring these children grow into self-reliant adults who can uplift their own families and contribute to the Nigerian economy.
