In Nigeria, millions of girls are unable to complete school due to poverty, early marriage, and lack of access to skills training. Without education and job skills, they are left vulnerable to unemployment and dependency. This project will provide 500 girls with vocational training, literacy classes, and mentorship to help them achieve self-reliance. Immediate action is needed as many girls are at risk of dropping out this year.
In many parts of Nigeria, girls face barriers such as poverty, cultural practices, and gender discrimination that limit their access to education. Families often prioritize boys' schooling, leaving girls without opportunities to learn or develop skills. As a result, many girls drop out, marry early, or remain unemployed, trapped in cycles of poverty without hope of self-reliance.
The project will provide girls with vocational training, literacy education, and mentoring. Training areas will include tailoring, catering, hairdressing, and ICT. Each girl will receive starter kits and support to begin small-scale businesses or further studies. By equipping girls with practical skills, they will gain the tools to earn income and contribute to their families and communities.
Girls who acquire education and vocational skills are more likely to secure work, delay early marriage, and invest in their children's education. This project will prepare 500 girls to break the cycle of poverty and become financially independent. In the long term, these trained girls can create jobs, strengthen household income, and build stronger communities in Nigeria.
