Sisterhood Agenda is currently raising funds to expand its SHE: Sisters, Healthy & Empowered strategy for global girls under the Global Educational Empowerment project for 100,000 girls.
We are responding to the fact that girls are disproportionately affected by trauma. Trauma itself compromises girls' health. Often, resulting coping mechanisms and behaviors take girls further from optimal health. Traumatic experiences, lack of knowledge and lack of social support place them at risk. Being untethered, social isolation further marginalizes victims and survivors, increasing their chances of disease, depression, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In response to need and demand, Sisterhood Agenda will create and test an innovative safe space strategy that will physically reflect and support an empowerment model and that can be replicated nationally. The safe space model gives us the opportunity to successfully implement and evaluate a process for the empowerment of girls that addresses the impact of trauma, builds resilience, and results in the optimization of holistic health.
We are very excited about this project expansion because health is the foundation for a quality life. Sisterhood Agenda continues to define, measure, and evaluate health holistically. Thousands of girls will benefit.
In the Spirit of Sisterhood,
Angela D. Coleman, MBA, CNM
