Global Educational Empowerment for 100,000 is one of three primary program areas of focus for Sisterhood Agenda. With the goal of reaching over 100,000 girls, it is our most expansive program focus area. It is being further expanded as part of Sisterhood Agenda's Strategic Plan for 2022-2027.
RENEWED COMMITMENT
The purpose of Sisterhood Agenda's Global Girls Empowerment project is to increase positive self-concept, self-esteem, sisterhood, cultural pride, critical thinking, and life skills for girls ages 4 and up.
The Global Educational Empowerment Project is an international initiative that helps girls from around the globe recognize their greatness and options in life by providing sisterhood mentoring, positive peer groups, exposure to career and work options, life skills, culture, and community awareness.
Sisterhood Agenda implements sisterhood mentoring programs such as Journey Toward Womanhood, SHE: Sisters Healthy & Empowered, Sister Circles, and SisterCamp, and creates educational tools like Girls Guide to reach a minimum of 100,000 girls per year.
A hallmark of Sisterhood Agenda’s success is collaboration. Through community partnerships (local, regional, national, and global), Sisterhood Agenda does not rely solely on its own direct service to girls, but is a leading part of the Global Sisterhood Network that has been developed since 2005. Partners are listed in Sisterhood Agenda’s Global Sisterhood Directory, an online resource for partners and the public.
FUTURE PROGRAM ACTIVITY
Sisterhood Agenda's strategic plan calls for the following expansion of activities: 1) Global Implementation, 2) Internship & Cultural Exchange, 3) Multiple Program Sites, and 4) Staff & Communications.
Global Implementation
Nationally and internationally, Sisterhood Agenda will develop regular program implementation schedules during the school year and summer months with ongoing recruitment of staff and participants. This will allow a greater collection of performance metrics, local processes, and opportunities for a longitudinal study.
Internship & Cultural Exchange
Sisterhood Agenda will recruit volunteers, interns, and staff from African, Asian, the Caribbean, and other areas for work and cultural exchange opportunities. In this capacity, Sisterhood Agenda will be an international host for women and girls looking to better themselves, brighten their future, and help others.
Multiple Program Sites
Sisterhood Agenda will coordinate with its community partners to implement girl programs, events, and gathering activities at multiple sites in various countries, communities, and Sisterhood Agenda locations, as appropriate, and may include Sisterhood Agenda's new Holistic Housing Community Development project.
Staff & Communications
Over the next few years, expect to see an increase in Global Girls Empowerment staff, specifically from 11 employees to 40. In addition, Sisterhood Agenda will create stand-alone communication and marketing department. This department will be responsible for expanding the impact of our mission, leadership, and media work, lifting up positive role models of sisterhood and success, and magnifying the success of Sisterhood Agenda.
Your support makes all of our work possible. THANK YOU!
In the Spirit of Sisterhood,
Angela D. Coleman, MBA, CNM
