Sisterhood Among Friends

Greetings! Please find updated information about Sisterhood Agenda, Sisterhood Agenda’s Global Strategy, the Sisterhood Empowerment Project, Sisterhood Agenda’s Global Training Academy launch in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Sisterhood Agenda’s new website.

PROJECT SUMMARY: PLEASE BECOME A FUNDER! Sisterhood Agenda’s Sisterhood Empowerment Project is the only project of its kind: it is a large-scale, holistic, female-centered approach to empowering girls, young women, parents, and educators using proven programmatic strategies combined with cultural relevance and positive, alternative media, all implemented at the grassroots, community level.

NEW ACTIVITIES During the last two months, Sisterhood Agenda constructed and conducted a Global Strategy Survey and the results revealed the fact that the A Journey Toward Womanhood teen program is the most popular program. Results also indicted that constituents desire more positive media and online experiences, along with willingness and means to travel to the U.S Virgin islands. As a result, Sisterhood Agenda has planned future activities.

Sisterhood Agenda continually adds new Global Network members and new Global Partners to our ever-expanding community of sisters and those who support sisters. This year, Sisterhood Agenda continues to work with the local U.S. Virgin Islands government and local grassroots organizations to launch Sisterhood Agenda’s Global Training Academy. Currently, new partners are being identified and a benefit concert is planned to launch the Global Training Academy. New activities, available to everyone, are being planned in the Virgin Islands, coordinated with the benefit concert. These exciting activities will bring Sisterhood Agenda Global Partners together from all over the globe, something that they have been asking for during the last several years.

Sisterhood Agenda’s new website will be multimedia, participatory, and constantly changing with new content. It will also include online Global Training Academy activities such as empowerment programs, videos, blogs, talent identification and development. It’s exciting!

BACKGROUND Sisterhood Agenda is a global, award-winning nonprofit organization that was started in 1994 by Princeton graduate Angela D. Coleman. Sisterhood Agenda creates and implements activities for women and girls with special emphasis on females of African descent. Sisterhood Agenda addresses the social, health, economic and cultural issues of this historically at-risk and traditionally underserved target population.

Based in the United States, Sisterhood Agenda serves over 5 million constituents each year and has thousands of global partners in over 32 countries. Sisterhood resources are listed in the organization’s online Global Resource Directory.

Sisterhood Agenda recognizes that the most effective programs often operate at the grassroots level. Sisterhood Agenda's social impact is expanded through partnerships with agencies, individuals and businesses throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, Africa, and other areas.

Global Partners create an extensive sisterhood network to increase local organization capacity and empower girls and women to become agents for positive change around the globe. Next, look for Sisterhood Agenda Global Partners in Central and South American geographical areas.
