Leadership is from God.

By Maniragaba Elijah | Founder

*Reflection: Leadership Is From God*
*Theme: Servant Hearts, Stronger Communities at Gaba Hope for Kids*

Leadership is from God. That truth shapes how we serve the children and families in our program. When we remember leadership is a gift and a responsibility, not a title, it changes how we make decisions, how we treat each other, and how we show up for children.

*What This Means In Our Work*
1. *Servant First*: Like the children we support, leaders are called to serve. Our peer mentors visit homes, sit with struggling students, and listen to guardians. Leadership looks like kneeling to fix a desk, not just giving instructions.
2. *Wisdom Over Power*: God gives wisdom for hard choices. When resources are limited, we ask for discernment about which child gets support first, which classroom gets repaired first. We choose based on need, not convenience.
3. *Accountability*: Leadership from God means we answer to a higher standard. We keep records, we visit classrooms, we listen to teachers. Children deserve leaders who are faithful with small things.
4. *Hope in Hard Seasons*: When roofs leak, attendance drops, or families face pressure for children to work, we lead with hope. That hope does not come from us. It comes from trusting that God cares about every child’s future.

*What Changes When We Lead This Way*
Children notice. They see mentors who are patient, teachers who are present, and guardians who are encouraged. Integrity spreads. A child who is treated with respect learns to respect others. A community that sees fair decisions learns to trust the process.

One mentor told us: “I don’t just manage the study group. I pray for the children before we start.” That posture matters. It reminds us that we are stewards, not owners, of the work.

*How We Keep Leading Well*
1. *Pray + Plan*: We bring needs to God before we make plans for classrooms, kits, or mentoring.
2. *Train + Equip*: We equip peer mentors with skills and character, so leadership multiplies.
3. *Walk Together*: We check in with teachers and guardians, because leadership is not done alone.

*Closing*
Leadership is from God, and He entrusts children to our care. When we lead with humility, wisdom, and service, classrooms become safer, children stay in school, and futures stay open.

*Call to Action*
Want to partner with leaders who serve this way? Your support strengthens mentors, teachers, and guardians as they guide children toward their God-given potential. Reply “Lead” and we will share how you can walk with us.

Every child thrives when leadership reflects the heart of God.
