Our children have gone back to school.

Report: Our Children Have Gone Back To School
Theme: Return Is Victory, Presence Is The Future at Gaba Hope for Kids

Our children have gone back to school. Since 2021 we have supported over 860 children, and there is no sound sweeter than the sound of footsteps returning to class. When children come back, fear loses. Shame loses. Pressure loses. Hope wins.

What Return Means
Return Means The Path Is Open Again: A leaking roof no longer sends children home. Empty hands no longer push them to the back. Menstrual shame no longer makes girls disappear. Pressure no longer decides their tomorrow. Return means barriers moved and children walked through.
Return Means Silence Becomes Voice: Orphans who felt like burdens now sit and write. Girls who hid now raise their hands. Underprivileged children who felt invisible now believe they belong. Return gives children back their voice.
Return Means Fear Becomes Confidence: Children who walked in fear now walk with their heads up. Girls who feared absence now stay all month. Return replaces “I cannot” with “I will try.”
Return Means Goodbye Becomes Tomorrow: One missed day no longer becomes one missed week. One missed week no longer becomes “school is finished for me.” Return means a child sees a future and chooses it.

How We Keep Children Present Now That They Are Back
Dignity Through Respect: We protect girls with menstrual support and respect so they stay clean and confident all month. Dignity keeps them present when barriers try to pull them back.
Belonging Through Attention: We learn names, save seats, call children to the front. Belonging tells every orphan and underprivileged child “this place is yours.” Belonging keeps them present when doubt returns.
Early Action Through Watching: Teachers notice the quiet before dropout. We repair, provide, protect before absence grows. Early action keeps children present term after term.
Presence Through Protection: We keep seats dry, books in hands, classrooms safe. Presence tells every child “you are safe here.” Presence keeps futures breathing.

What Teachers And Children Are Saying Now
“They Came Back With Light In Their Eyes”: Teachers say the moment children return, hope returns to the room. Presence brings light.
“I Thought School Was Finished For Me”: Children tell us they are grateful they walked back. Return means they get to dream again.
“She Stays All Month Now”: Girls say dignity and respect keep them present. Return means they choose their book over pressure.
“We Protect Each Other Now”: Classmates save seats and stop teasing. Return means children build belonging for each other.

Why This Return Matters Now
Return Must Be Protected: A child who returns can still be pulled back by barriers. Presence must be guarded every day so return becomes completion.
Return Multiplies: When one child comes back, classmates feel safer. More girls lead. More orphans believe. One return becomes many.
Generosity Is Measured In Children Who Stay: We do not count what was given. We count children who returned and stayed because support met them at the door. Your support made this return possible.

Closing
Our children have gone back to school. Because you protected dignity, girls returned without shame. Because you built belonging, orphans returned without fear. Because you acted early, children returned before goodbye.

Thank you for being the breath, the book, the seat, the name called that opened the door for their return.

Every child who returned is a future that started breathing again. Every day they stay is a choice protected.

From every child now sitting in class because our children have gone back to school — thank you for bringing them home.

Will you stand with us to keep our children present now that they are back, so return becomes a future completed.
