THEORY OF CHANGE - GABA HOPE FOR KIDS

1. THE PROBLEM WE ADDRESS

In Gaba, Kampala, over 500 needy and orphan children face:
- Lack of school fees and scholastic materials
- Hunger that keeps them out of class
- Unsafe learning spaces
- Vulnerable parents with no income or skills

Without support, these children risk dropping out, early labor, and continued poverty.

2. OUR VISION

A community where every vulnerable child has education, nourishment, and opportunity to build a better future.

3. OUR INTERVENTIONS

INPUTS:
- Community volunteers and parents
- Donations and in-kind support
- Local materials (sand, bricks, timber)
- Community savings (SACCO)

ACTIVITIES:
- Provide scholastic materials and school support
- Run daily feeding program (porridge and meals)
- Build and improve safe classrooms and kitchen
- Conduct learning circles and mentorship
- Train parents in vocational and income-generating skills
- Strengthen community SACCO for sustainability

4. RESULTS CHAIN

OUTPUTS:
- 500+ children access learning materials
- Daily meals served at center
- Safe classrooms and kitchen constructed
- 20+ mothers trained in skills

SHORT-TERM OUTCOMES (6-12 months):
- Children stay in school and attend regularly
- Improved health and concentration due to feeding
- Parents engaged and contributing to children's education
- Community ownership increased

LONG-TERM OUTCOMES (1-3 years):
- Improved literacy and academic performance
- Reduced dropout rate
- Families with improved income from skills training
- Sustainable community school managed by community
