Theme: Protecting Valuable Learning Time for Vulnerable Children

1. INTRODUCTION
GABA HOPE FOR KIDS is located in Kisigula Village, Wakiso District. Our mission is to ensure vulnerable children stay in school, protect their learning time, and empower their mothers with skills for sustainable livelihoods.

When a child misses weeks of school due to lack of fees or books, they lose valuable learning time that is hard to recover. Our work is to protect that time.

2. OUR BELIEF
We believe every minute a child spends in class builds their future. Vulnerable children should not lose learning time because of poverty.

3. ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED

A. Education Support
- Provided scholastic materials including books, pens, pencils and school bags to keep children learning.
- Supported children at risk of dropping out to return to class quickly and protect their learning time.
- Conducted school and home visits to encourage regular attendance.

B. Mothers Empowerment
- Trained mothers in income-generating skills like liquid soap making and tailoring.
- Provided start-up kits to help mothers start small businesses.
- Held mentorship on savings and parenting so families can keep children in school.

C. Child Protection and Home Visits
- Visited homes to assess children's well-being, health and school attendance.
- Provided counseling and guidance to guardians.

4. IMPACT STORY - MEET FAITH
Faith is a young girl in primary school who lives with her grandmother. She had missed many days of school because she had no books or fees.

Every day she missed was valuable learning time lost.

Through our supporters, we provided her with books, uniform and school support. She returned to class and is now learning every day with her friends. She is happy, confident and dreams of becoming a teacher.

Faith says: Thank you for helping me to go back to school. I want to become a teacher.

5. CHALLENGES
- More children are seeking support to stay in class.
- Rising costs of school materials.
- Many mothers still need training and start-up support.
- Need for more space for training and learning activities.

6. PLAN FOR NEXT
- Support children preparing for examinations to protect their learning progress.
- Distribute more uniforms, shoes and books.
- Train more mothers.
- Continue fundraising to protect learning time for next school year.
