GABA HOPE FOR KIDS
Empowering Vulnerable Children and Mothers in Wakiso District, Uganda
IMPACT REPORT
Theme: Your Support Matters
1. INTRODUCTION
GABA HOPE FOR KIDS is located in Kisigula Village, Wakiso District. Our mission is to ensure vulnerable children stay in school and to empower their mothers and guardians with sustainable skills and hope.
This report is to show you that your support matters. Every book, every pad, every training you help us provide is changing a life.
2. OUR BELIEF
We believe that when a community comes together to support a child, that child can stay in school, learn and dream bigger. Your support is the bridge between a vulnerable child and their future.
3. ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED
A. Education Support
- Distributed scholastic materials including books, pens, pencils and school bags to vulnerable children.
- Supported children at risk of dropping out to return to class.
- Conducted home and school visits to encourage attendance and performance.
B. Girls Dignity and Menstrual Health
- Conducted sessions on menstrual health to replace shame with knowledge and dignity.
- Distributed reusable sanitary pads and hygiene kits to keep girls in school.
- Trained girls and mothers on making and caring for reusable pads.
C. Mothers Empowerment
- Trained mothers in income-generating skills like liquid soap making and tailoring.
- Provided start-up kits for small businesses.
- Held mentorship sessions on savings, business and positive parenting.
4. IMPACT STORY - MEET FAITH
Faith is a young girl in primary school who lives with her grandmother. She had missed school many times because she had no books, no uniform and no sanitary pads. She felt ashamed and alone.
Because of your support, Faith received books, uniform, reusable pads and encouragement. Today she is back in school every day, confident, smiling and performing well.
Faith says: Thank you for helping me to go back to school. I want to become a teacher.
Faith is in school today because your support matters.
5. CHALLENGES
- More children are coming for help than our current resources can support.
- Rising costs of school materials and pad-making materials.
- Many mothers still need skills training and start-up support.
- Need for more space for trainings and learning activities.
6. PLAN FOR NEXT
- Distribute more scholastic materials, uniforms and reusable pads.
- Train more mothers and girls.
- Continue menstrual health education to keep girls confident and in school.
- Prepare support for the next school term examinations.
7. APPRECIATION
We sincerely thank all our donors on GlobalGiving, friends, volunteers and local leaders in Kisigula. Your generosity is keeping children in school and giving mothers hope. This is proof that your support truly matters.
8. CONCLUSION
One book keeps a child writing. One pad keeps a girl in class. One mother trained keeps a family strong. Your support matters more than you know. Together, we are ensuring every child stays in school.
