GABA HOPE FOR KIDS
Empowering Vulnerable Children and Mothers in Wakiso District, Uganda

IMPACT REPORT
Theme: Building Resilience Through Continued Farming Support

1. INTRODUCTION
GABA HOPE FOR KIDS is located in Kisigula Village, Wakiso District. Our mission is to ensure vulnerable children stay in school and to empower their mothers and guardians with sustainable livelihoods.

Many families in our community depend on small-scale farming but lack inputs, knowledge and resilience to sustain their households. This report shares how continued farming support is building resilience among mothers and keeping children in school.

2. OUR BELIEF
We believe when a mother has food security and a steady income from farming, her children are more likely to stay in school, eat well and dream bigger. Farming support builds family resilience.

3. ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED

A. Farming Skills Training
- Conducted practical trainings on backyard gardening, vegetable growing and sustainable farming practices.
- Taught mothers about soil improvement, compost making and proper spacing.
- Held sessions on post-harvest handling and storage to reduce losses.

B. Farm Inputs and Support
- Provided seeds, seedlings and basic farm tools to vulnerable mothers.
- Supported mothers to start kitchen gardens for household nutrition and income.
- Encouraged mixed farming to improve food security throughout the year.

C. Mothers Empowerment and Mentorship
- Linked farming to income generation, savings and business skills.
- Held group mentorship on planning, budgeting and working together.
- Provided counseling and guidance on family care and children's education.

D. Home and Garden Follow Up
- Visited homes and gardens to provide ongoing support and encouragement.
- Monitored progress of gardens and shared learning among mothers.

4. IMPACT STORY - MEET FAITH'S GRANDMOTHER
Faith is a young girl in primary school who lives with her grandmother. Her grandmother struggled to provide food and school needs from a small garden that was not producing well.

Through our continued farming support, she received training, seeds and mentorship. She started a small vegetable garden that now provides food for the family and some vegetables to sell for school materials.

Because of this support, Faith stays in school and the family is more resilient.

Faith says: Thank you for helping my grandmother. Now we have food and I can stay in school.

This shows how farming support builds resilience.

5. CHALLENGES
- More mothers need seeds, tools and training than we can currently reach.
- Rising costs of farm inputs and unpredictable weather.
- Need for more land and water access for some families.
- Need for continued mentorship and market linkages.

6. PLAN FOR NEXT
- Support more mothers with seeds and training for the next planting season.
- Provide additional training on climate-smart farming.
- Strengthen mother groups for shared learning and selling.
- Continue linking farming success to children's education.

7. APPRECIATION
We sincerely thank all our donors on GlobalGiving, friends, volunteers and local leaders in Kisigula. Your support is helping mothers grow food, earn income and keep their children in school. You are building resilience in our community.

8. CONCLUSION
When we continue to support farming, we build families that can stand strong. A resilient mother keeps her children fed, healthy and in school. With your continued support, more families will grow in strength and hope.
