GABA HOPE FOR KIDS
Empowering Vulnerable Children and Mothers in Wakiso District, Uganda
URGENT APPEAL REPORT
Theme: Don't Let Their Hope Fade, An Urgent Appeal for 200 Children
1. INTRODUCTION
GABA HOPE FOR KIDS is located in Kisigula Village, Wakiso District. Our mission is to ensure vulnerable children stay in school and to empower their mothers and guardians with sustainable livelihoods.
Today we are making an urgent appeal for 200 children who are at risk of losing school, hope and dignity. These children need our immediate support to stay in class.
2. WHY THIS APPEAL IS URGENT
In our community, many children miss school because they lack books, uniform, shoes and sanitary pads. Girls miss days every month due to lack of menstrual health support. Mothers struggle to provide because they lack income and farming support.
Every day out of school is valuable learning time lost and hope fading. We cannot let their hope fade.
3. WHO ARE THE 200 CHILDREN
These are vulnerable children from Kisigula and surrounding villages. Many live with grandmothers or single mothers, some are orphans, all are eager to learn but lack basic support to stay in school.
They are boys and girls who dream of becoming teachers, nurses, farmers and leaders if given a chance.
4. WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING
A. Keeping Children in School
- Provided scholastic materials including books, pens and bags.
- Supported children to return to class after dropping out.
- Conducted home and school visits to protect learning time.
B. Protecting Girls Dignity
- Provided menstrual health education to replace shame with knowledge and dignity.
- Distributed reusable sanitary pads to keep girls learning without interruption.
C. Strengthening Families
- Trained mothers in farming, liquid soap making and tailoring.
- Provided seeds and start-up kits for resilience.
5. IMPACT STORY - MEET FAITH, ONE OF MANY
Faith is a young girl in primary school who lives with her grandmother. She had missed school because she had no books or pads.
Through our supporters, Faith received books and reusable pads. She is now back in school every day, confident and hopeful.
Faith says: Thank you for helping me to go back to school. I want to become a teacher.
Faith is one child whose hope was restored. There are 199 more like her waiting.
6. WHAT YOUR SUPPORT WILL DO FOR 200 CHILDREN
Your support will help provide scholastic materials, uniforms, reusable sanitary pads and hygiene kits. It will support mothers with farming inputs and skills so families can stay strong and children can stay in school.
Your support will protect learning time and keep hope alive.
7. CHALLENGES
- The number of children needing urgent help has grown to 200 and continues to rise.
- Rising costs of school materials and pad-making materials.
- Limited space and resources for trainings.
- Need for continued mentorship for children and mothers.
8. APPRECIATION AND CALL TO ACTION
We sincerely thank all our donors on GlobalGiving, friends, volunteers and local leaders in Kisigula who have stood with us.
Today we ask you, please don't let their hope fade. Stand with us for these 200 children. Every donation, big or small, keeps a child in class and protects their future.
9. CONCLUSION
When we act now, we keep 200 children in school, we keep girls learning with dignity, and we keep families resilient. Please help us ensure their hope does not fade.
