New Year Update from the Girls at Hands for Hope

Greetings from Uganda!

Thanks to you, our generous supporters, Hands for Hope was able to raise almost $15,000 USD this holiday season (not counting the $4000 we were awarded in matching funds from the Giving Tuesday campaign)!

All of those funds are going to directly impact the most vulnerable girls from the Namuwongo slum: we are opening a new tailoring class for our older students and their mothers, we're launching a computer lab to improve tech literacy, and we're re-furbishing our classrooms. Our new Education Coordinator, Jordan Sladden, is focusing on developing the reading culture within Hands for Hope and working with those who struggle with literacy; new positions have been created for three teachers to coordinate Nursery, Lower Primary and Upper Primary respectively, and we've even changed the timetable to incorporate a wide variety of new curricular activities for the new year.

To celebrate, back in December we held our annual Holiday party with over 170 parents in the audience!  There were performances from every class, featuring music, dance, drama and comedy.  Below you can see our baby class performing their first dance routine!

Thanks again to everyone who gave during this holiday season.  None of this would be possible without you! Your support makes all the difference not only to the children of Namuwongo, but also to the organization's staff who work extremely hard every day to ensure that our students thrive.

Here's to a great 2020!

Feeling inspired?  We did just enroll a new cohort into our Baby Class and they all need sponsors - please help us to spread the word!
