Despite continued social and economic difficulties faced by Haitians during the Fall ’21, the efforts to support adults with disabilities have been outstanding! In academic, vocational and entrepreneurial areas, much is being accomplished and even expanded.
All four of the scholarship recipients supported by this project remain engaged in their academic and vocational learning, despite the volitile conditions in the country. One student excelled, being promoted from NSII (Nouvelle Secondary II) last year to NSIII (Nouvelle Secondary III in Fall of 2021. This student accomplished this by immense focus and hard work in the classroom, diligently studying all lessons and completing daily homework. Two other students have been promoted to NSII. Sadly, the fourth student needs additional assistance and was not able to advance. Supplemental help is being provided and we are hopeful that, with this targeted support, he will succeed during the next term.
Their collective achievements are quite amazing given the postponements in this last semester due to political unrest and the pandemic. We recognize all of these adults due to their educational dedication and courage to continue their schooling in the midst of an extremely volitile environment.
Due to funds raised through GlobalGiving, one additional student has joined the training program sponsored for adult residents. One entered St. Vincent Center as a child in 2008 to begin his classical studies. This year, he passed the official exams of the 9th fundamental year and was able continue his advanced studies at the NSI level.
These successes would not be possible without your help. Thank you from our hearts to yours.
