We supported families with children with cerebral palsy in Kawempe North. The rehabilitation groups continued to meet every month. The group from Makerere Kagugube were skilled in how to make Jelly. They make it for home use and also sell some. These caregivers are very positive about life, and whenever they meet, they encourage each other and also share the challenges that they are going through.
One of the parents had their child hospitalized and the providers were insisting on intubating the child, and the caretaker showed them how to feed the child without using an NG tube. This caregiver was really proud that she supported the care of her child with some of the skills we passed on to them.
We participated in a division review meeting where the caregivers also participated and shared their achievements as part of the groups. They are now able to feed their children after selling the jelly.
