In October 2025, Yayasan INFEST, with the support of AWO International, distributed the second phase of community enterprise seed grants to four community-based business groups in Ponorogo and Blitar Regencies, East Java. This programme forms part of INFEST’s efforts to strengthen community economies through the development of sustainable, collective enterprises.
The seed grants were provided to community-managed enterprises in four villages, namely Sumberagung and Lorejo Villages in Blitar Regency, and Ngendut and Karangpatihan Villages in Ponorogo Regency. The support aims to strengthen business capacity, ensure the sustainability of community organisations, and increase economic benefits for their members.
Following the distribution, each community utilised the seed grant to develop group-based enterprises aligned with local potential and needs. These enterprises are collectively managed as a source of organisational funding, while also serving as a mechanism to improve members’ income and overall well-being.
In Sumberagung Village, the community has developed a frozen food business, which is marketed locally at the regency level. Meanwhile, Lorejo Village focused on developing a sugarcane cultivation enterprise. The community in Karangpatihan Village established an equipment rental service, while Ngendut Village developed a trading business for agricultural commodities.
Through this seed grant distribution, Yayasan INFEST aims to strengthen the economic self-reliance of recipient communities, enhance collective business governance, and establish a sustainable and inclusive foundation for community enterprises at the village level.
