KOPI (Komunitas Pekerja Migran Indonesia / Indonesian Migrant Workers Community) of Pandanarum Village is a community-based organization consisting primarily of migrant women workers and their families. The community has been organized since 2018 as part of a social and economic empowerment program aimed at strengthening protection for women migrant workers and improving the well-being of their families at the village level. This community organizing and capacity-building process has been facilitated by Yayasan INFEST.
To strengthen the economic resilience of its members, KOPI Pandanarum established BUM-KOPI (Badan Usaha Milik KOPI / Community-Owned Enterprise) in 2022 as a collective economic institution at the village level. BUM-KOPI began its business operations after receiving initial seed support from Yayasan INFEST, which enabled the community to develop productive economic activities based on local resources and collective management.
Type of Business Activities
BUM-KOPI Pandanarum currently manages and develops the following core business units:
Sheep Farming
Sheep farming is the main business activity, developed in response to local resource availability and market demand. The business has been actively operated since 2024 and is managed collectively by community members under a shared supervision system. This unit serves as both an income-generating activity and a learning platform for community-based entrepreneurship.
Organic Fertilizer Production
As part of a circular economy approach, BUM-KOPI Pandanarum processes livestock waste into organic fertilizer. This activity reduces environmental impacts from livestock waste while creating added economic value and supporting sustainable agricultural practices in the village.
Business Development and Performance
Along with continuous mentoring and organizational strengthening, BUM-KOPI Pandanarum has shown steady progress. The enterprise is managed through a collective decision-making process, with increasingly structured financial recording, task distribution, and operational coordination among members.
Social and Economic Impact
The establishment and development of BUM-KOPI Pandanarum have contributed to:
Improved economic resilience of migrant worker families and village households
Stronger solidarity and cooperation among community members
Promotion of environmentally friendly livestock and agricultural practices
Creation of a community-based learning space for entrepreneurship and business management
Future Development Direction
Moving forward, BUM-KOPI Pandanarum is committed to:
Gradually expanding and strengthening sheep farming operations
Scaling up organic fertilizer production and improving market access
Integrating livestock activities with organic and sustainable agriculture
Strengthening Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), business planning, and long-term institutional sustainability
