Of the 3 million patients expected to visit LRBT in 2024, almost 49% are men and around 150,000 eye surgeries are performed for men annually free of cost. This free of cost treatment enables the beneficiaries to lead independent, productive lives seeking an education, learning vocations and supporting their families.

Safeer, a 40-year-old laborer from Chakwal, Punjab, embodies the resilience of countless individuals striving to support their loved ones in the face of adversity. Safeer’s journey from despair to hope illustrates the transformative impact of LRBT’s mission to fight curable blindness.

Safeer lived a life defined by hard work. His days were spent lifting heavy loads and assisting on construction sites, using his physical strength to earn enough to support his family. This included his two daughters, a son, his brother, and his aging parents. They lived in a modest rented home, paying 12,000 PKR monthly, a significant strain on their meager income.
