Since its inception 39 years ago, LRBT has remained committed to eliminating curable blindness from Pakistan. Through its network of 20 hospitals and 61 clinics, LRBT has treated over 59 million patients and performed 5.7 million sight-restoring surgeries—all free of cost. Each year, LRBT treats around 3 million patients, of which over 1.5 million are men—many of them daily wage earners and sole providers for their families.
Our initiative "Empowering Families by Restoring His Sight" focuses on restoring vision for such individuals, ensuring not just their recovery but the continued stability of their families. Aqib, a 28-year-old stitcher at a private textile mill, supporting five sisters and elderly parents, lost his job due to vision problems caused by cataracts. Unable to afford surgery, he was devastated—until a friend guided him to LRBT. After successful surgeries at one of our hospitals, Aqib returned to work and now co-manages a small shop to supplement his family’s income.
Aqib’s story is a powerful reminder of how sight restoration changes lives. In Pakistan’s current economic climate—where inflation and unemployment are soaring—a single case of blindness in a financially struggling family can be devastating. Your support helps ensure that no one loses their livelihood to a treatable condition like cataracts.
Together, LRBT is not just restoring sight—we are rebuilding futures.
