Today is The International Day of the Girl! BARKA works to empower girls and women in Burkina Faso through menstrual health and hygiene programs.
Since 2017 we have worked to break the silence around the taboo subject of mensturation and to distribute menstrual cups in Burkina. Our innovative and revolutionary project to introduce cups to Burkina will begin its phase 2 training later this month. The 30 community health care workers who were given cups 4 months ago will now learn to train others and distribute cup kits to 1200 women and girls.
