Empower Peruvian Women Living in Poverty

Hello Everyone, 

           Empowering women who live in poverty remains a priority for us. Since some of these girls receive little education, it makes it more difficult to have higher earning potentials. They also face other challenges like sexual health, pregnancy, and cultural barriers. 

            Since holding gatherings for young girls where we discussed these issues in a safe space, we have delegated some personnel to spearhead other projects. Thus, we have devoted more time to thinking about and planning our next steps with this initiative. This involves constructive changes we can make to improve our previous processes and outcomes. It also involves forward-thinking and creative problem-solving to create new methods of youth engagement. Some of these communities have girls who must take care of children or siblings, balance schoolwork, or help in a family business. These time constraints are a challenge and so our program-planning requires careful strategic thought in order to make our execution both useful and effective. 

            The Pandemic has compounded the problems Peruvians face, as school and businesses were closed. Thus, girls must study harder to reach their previous academic levels. They must also work harder in their stores in order to earn more money for their families. These, in addition to the cultural, ideological, and practical challenges, means that our preparation for the design of this program must be more thorough than others. 

            Overall, our brainstorming and design of specific program measures and goals will end up paying dividends when it comes to their implementation. We look forward to seeing the beneficial outcomes of our work come to fruition as we empower Peruvian women living in poverty.
