Why Empower girls in Peru?

The decision for our NGO to focus on women's empowerment in Peru, specifically targeting young girls, is rooted in the recognition of several critical factors shaping the lives of women and girls in the country, as well as a commitment to fostering sustainable change and empowerment from an early age.

Intersecting Challenges: Young girls in Peru face challenges, including limited access to education, early marriage, gender-based violence, and social norms that perpetuate inequality. By targeting this demographic, our NGO seeks to address these challenges at a younger stage of their lives, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and inequality.

Education as a Foundation: Education is a fundamental tool for empowerment. However, many young girls in Peru face barriers to accessing quality education, including poverty, geographic isolation, and cultural norms that prioritize boys' education. Our NGO works to provide educational opportunities that not only impart academic knowledge but also instill confidence, critical thinking skills, and a sense of agency in girls.

Building Self-Esteem and Confidence: Empowerment begins with self-esteem and confidence. Through targeted programs and workshops, our NGO aims to nurture self-confidence and self-worth in young girls, helping them recognize their inherent value and potential. By providing mentorship, and opportunities for personal development, we empower girls to advocate for themselves and pursue their aspirations.

Challenging Gender Stereotypes: Gender stereotypes and societal expectations often limit girls' choices and opportunities. Our NGO works to challenge these stereotypes by promoting gender equality and dismantling harmful norms that perpetuate inequality. By fostering a supportive environment that celebrates diversity and inclusivity, we empower girls to defy stereotypes and pursue their passions without limitations.

Health and Well-being: Physical and mental health are integral components of empowerment. Our programs incorporate health education, including topics such as reproductive health, nutrition, and mental well-being, to ensure that young girls have the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives. By prioritizing holistic well-being, we empower girls to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

Creating Agents of Change: Empowered girls are not only beneficiaries but also agents of change within their communities. Our NGO equips girls with the skills, knowledge, and tools to become leaders and advocates for gender equality. Through community engagement, activism, and participation in decision-making processes, we empower girls to drive positive change and create a more inclusive and equitable society for future generations.

Our NGO's focus on women's empowerment in Peru, specifically targeting girls, reflects a holistic approach to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by women and girls in the country. By investing in education, building self-esteem, challenging stereotypes, promoting health and well-being, and fostering leadership, we aim to create a generation of empowered girls who can transform their own lives and contribute to the advancement of their communities and society as a whole.

Workshops

Recently, our workshops have been delivering quality training and advice to girls in a rural village outside of Cusco, Peru. One of our qualified interns from Brazil has been updating the workshop materials and has been working with a group of girls to help empower and improve their lives.
