At Globalteer, we believe that empowering women and girls is the foundation for lasting community change. In the rural areas surrounding Cusco, our Women’s Empowerment Project continues to support mothers and daughters alike, helping them access education, develop essential skills, and gain the confidence to lead independent, fulfilling lives.
This quarter, we worked with over 20 girls from Picaflor House and around 7 girls through the Mobile Library program, providing them with educational reinforcement, safe recreational activities, and creative learning opportunities. At the same time, more than 60 mothers received support through initiatives that strengthen family bonds and promote education as a pathway out of poverty.
Empowering Through Education
Education remains at the heart of our work. The past three months have seen remarkable growth in literacy, self-expression, and confidence among our young participants. In both Picaflor House and the Mobile Library, our facilitators and volunteers create nurturing environments where learning is not limited to reading and writing, but extends to critical thinking, empathy, and equality.
Thanks to continued donor support, we provided:
Daily academic reinforcement for children with learning difficulties, especially those struggling with reading and mathematics.
Creative workshops focused on storytelling, art, and teamwork, helping children express themselves confidently.
Life skills sessions that highlight gender equality, respect, and inclusion.
These programs give girls many of whom are the first in their families to stay in school consistently, the tools to dream beyond traditional expectations.
Supporting Mothers, Strengthening Families
A cornerstone of this quarter’s work was extending our focus to the mothers of our participants. Many of these women face linguistic and cultural barriers, as some do not speak Spanish fluently. Despite these challenges, they show tremendous commitment to their children’s education, often walking long distances to accompany them to school.
Through community meetings and informal support circles, our team worked with over 60 mothers to:
Discuss the value of education and parental involvement.
Share strategies for supporting children who struggle academically.
Foster solidarity and confidence among women who often feel isolated or undervalued in their communities.
By investing in the mothers’ understanding and empowerment, we help them become active agents of change, reinforcing the belief that education is not only a child’s right, but a family’s collective strength.
Workshops on Rights and Respect
This quarter, volunteer Elena, from Italy, led a series of interactive workshops focused on human rights, gender equality, and civic responsibility. These sessions reached both boys and girls, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and the shared responsibility of building a fairer, more inclusive society.
Through storytelling, group discussions, and creative activities, the children explored themes such as:
The value of respecting women and girls.
The meaning of equality and fairness.
The link between personal responsibility and community well-being.
These workshops laid the foundation for the upcoming quarter, where the focus will expand to include mothers’ participation, equipping them with tools to guide their children in values such as equity, empathy, and resilience.
Stories of Transformation
When Alejandra and Fabiana first joined Picaflor House, both were shy and academically behind for their age. Alejjandra struggled with reading fluently, while Fabiana found mathematics discouraging and often withdrew from group activities.
Over the past months, both girls have flourished.
Alejandra now reads clearly and confidently, taking pride in reading aloud during class.
Fabiana has developed strong mathematical reasoning and approaches challenges with enthusiasm.
Beyond academics, their transformation is visible in their smiles, laughter, and growing participation. They now engage in discussions, support their classmates, and show curiosity and joy in learning, a reflection of how safe, encouraging spaces can unlock potential.
Looking Ahead
The next quarter will deepen the project’s impact by integrating workshops for both women and children, reinforcing family engagement around shared values of equality, respect, and cooperation. Plans include:
New training sessions for mothers on child guidance and emotional resilience.
Literacy and empowerment activities connecting education with community leadership.
By bridging education and empowerment across generations, Globalteer continues to nurture a movement of confident girls and capable women who are redefining what’s possible in their communities.
The Empower Peruvian Women project continues to prove that when we invest in women and girls, we transform entire communities. From improved literacy to greater self-esteem, from mothers’ resilience to children’s laughter, every milestone brings us closer to breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality.
Your continued support makes this transformation possible, one family, one classroom, and one dream at a time.
