The best opportunity is a quality education

By Fatima Moreno | Project Leader

Alejandro is an 11-year-old Champ who stands out brilliantly for his academic talent, leadership and musical ability. For him, receiving a quality education has been the perfect opportunity to get closer to his dream of becoming a great musician.

Alejandro lives in Comas, one of the most populated districts of Lima, with his parents and older sister. Since he was a child, he showed a special taste for learning new things, as well as strong social skills; which always led him to stand out among his classmates in the small school where he studied.

Although Alejandro's parents wanted him to receive an education that would develop all his talents and abilities, they did not have the financial resources to enroll him in a better school. His father works as a public-bus driver and his mother is a housewife. Despite the great love with which they have educated their son, they knew it was necessary to look for an opportunity that would allow him to develop his full potential.

When Alejandro was seven years old, he received a visit from one of his aunts, who worked as a teacher at Innova Schools, recognized for its quality education. She told his parents about the alliance between these schools and our organization, Peru Champs, which provides scholarships to low-income children with great talent. His parents did not hesitate and encouraged him to apply.

Thanks to his talent and hard work, Alejandro began his journey as a Champ in 2019 when he was in second grade. His performance within Innova Schools was more than highlighted by his teachers, who also highlight the leadership with which he supports his classmates in different activities. Since the first day of classes, his parents noticed that the demand and innovation that his new school was imparting was very high, but this challenge, instead of scaring, motivated him to study and strive harder to improve himself.

There is no doubt that Alejandro has many talents; however, his true passion is music, mainly rock. When his parents noticed his musical ability, they bought him his first guitar and enrolled him in lessons to learn to play his favorite songs. Over time, he became much more into the world of music and continually seeks to learn new songs and improve his technique. His dream is to become a renowned musician who can inspire and reach many people.

To achieve this, Alejandro highlights all the support he receives as part of the scholarship, mainly from the Leadership Program and the emotional support provided to him and all the Champs. He tells us that thanks to these tools, he strengthens his social skills, becomes aware of the problems that the country is going through and encourages him to use his talent to help other people, specially children who need an opportunity like he did one day.

Like Alejandro, there are many more children with great stories a talents with which they can help change our world. Provide education, provide opportunities, donating today.
