1. Background and Rationale
In Bukavu, many widowed women—often indirect victims of war and disease—are left alone to care for their children without stable income or recognized professional skills. This reality exposes them to persistent poverty, unsafe housing, and economic dependence. There is an urgent need for a sustainable response that restores dignity, self-reliance, and hope.
2. Project Overview
The “Empower Widows With Sewing Skills in Bukavu” project aims to strengthen the economic independence of widowed mothers by establishing a fully equipped sewing workshop. The project provides a safe and supportive space where women can learn, work, and rebuild their lives through a practical, income-generating skill.
3. Overall Objective
To enable vulnerable widows in Bukavu to acquire practical sewing skills that allow them to earn a dignified and sustainable income for their families.
