When the phone rang...

By Stephanie Bowers | Project Leader

One afternoon, my phone rang. The voice on the other end was shaky, and struggling with words. After a moment, "My name is Mary*, and two days ago, my four grandchildren were placed with me on emergency placement. The youngest two need diapers, and I don't know what to do."

We talked more, and I was able to learn that she & her husband now had emergency, full-custody of four children, ages 2 to 7. They came to them with little more than the clothes on their backs. This family was living in a crisis, and the children were now safe, but with little basic needs. With two littles in diapers, and four new mouths to feed, and a limited income, this family needed help.

We discussed how we could give her some diapers, and we talked about other community resources to help with food & clothes. She was so grateful for the diapers and direction we were able to give.

Life sure throws unexpected curveballs, and no one has ever made it through life without someone else's help. Here at Jake's Diapers, we exist because of the amazing help and support you provide, to help with the overlooked need of diapers.

Thank you for the light you bring to Mary.

~ Stephanie
