Dear Supporters,
We would like to share the story of Joshna.
Joshna, from the Garasia tribal community, lives in a remote village in Udaipur district, Rajasthan. For many years, her family struggled to make ends meet. She mostly grew maize, which brought very little income. To support her family, she often travelled nearly 50 km to Idar in Gujarat for daily wage labour, earning only about INR 20,000 a year.
Her journey began to change when she joined a Women’s Self-Help Group (a community savings group where women support each other) supported by Seva Mandir and the Agriculture Department. Through trainings and exposure visits, she learned natural farming practices such as Jeevamrit (a natural liquid fertilizer made from cow dung, cow urine, jaggery, and pulse flour) and Beejamrit (a traditional seed treatment used before sowing).
With this knowledge, Joshna planted 100 mango saplings on 2 bighas of land (about half an acre) and began multi-layer farming, growing vegetables alongside fruit trees. She also learned grafting at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (a government agricultural training centre) in Udaipur.
Today, Joshna runs a small nursery and has raised over 30,000 saplings, supplying plants to farmers in nearby villages. Her children now attend a private school, and her family’s life has improved significantly.
This transformation would not have been possible without your support which provided her an opportunity to learn advanced farming techniques and prosper in her life.
We are happy to share that Seva Mandir will be participating in GlobalGiving’s Little by Little Campaign from 17–20 March 2026. During this campaign, eligible donations up to $50 will be matched at 50%, while matching funds remain, allowing every contribution to go even further.
We hope that you would continue to support farmers like Joshna. Thank you for being part of this journey.
With Gratitude,
Team Seva Mandir
