Greetings --
I hope this progress report finds you in good health and good spirits. Although the suffering of the disadvantaged communities struggling all around us has been terrible to observe, we have found that being able to help at least some of them avoid starvation and get back on their feet never fails to comfort us.
Although COVID restrictions have meant that we have not been able to hold the training sessions we had envisioned for this project, we are doing what we can in the circumstances. We were able to deliver packages of 10 varieties of seeds, bundled with organic compost and natural pest repellents, to 100 women, and we are hopeful that if they are deployed according to the instructions we included, the women will enjoy a more abundant and nutritious harvest this season, which should improve both their income and their health.
To help them market the produce they harvest, we have also started a microproject to purchase mobile food carts for them, since the COVID restrictions have also made it difficult to sell what they grow.
I remain heartened by the support we have received and confident that when we all join virtual hands together, we will get through this difficult time.
Gratefully,
Janet Preethi
