Great Future Ahead For Youths
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
Group of Youths at Door of Hope
As you may know, one of the areas that Develop Africa focuses on is providing the essential tools, training and resources that people in the developing world need to better themselves. This project focuses on the specific area of providing computer training for youths - who otherwise have limited or no access to computers or training.
One of the deserving youths that we have been working with is Christiana. She has received a scholarship through another GlobalGiving project and also is a leadership mentee. She volunteers with Door of Hope and helps to mentor and encourage children in the community. Christina would like to be a banker.
Christiana is eagerly looking forward to the launching of the new computer lab that will be set up hopefully in the next year. Currently, the floor for the lab has been completed – as you can see from the photo accompanying this report. We have made tremendous strides over past year and YOU have been a huge part of making this progress happen. Your support is helping to prepare a great future for the youths. The building completion and floor tiling would not have happened without your support. Thanks again!
Save the date: On Wednesday June 25, 2014, 12:00PM EDT - June 26, 2014 11:59AM EDT Microsoft will be matching donations to this project at 100%! Your donation of $50 will be doubled to $100! This is a wonderful opportunity to make your donation go further. This will help us purchase the much-needed computer that Christiana and the other youths will use. Thanks for helping to make the dream of computer training come true for the youths. We appreciate you!

Lab Progress - Building Nearing Completion and Computer Lab Room Almost Ready
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
Develop Africa Training Institute
Happy New Year!
Thankfully, last year we together made significant progress towards completing the Develop Africa Empowerment and Training Institute and the room that will house our new computer lab - both still under construction. We are delighted with the progress that we have achieved together and are so excited about this new training platform. Thanks to YOUR support we have come a very long way!
Included with this report are
- a photo showing the outside of the building
- a photo showing the inside of the lab
- Photos of some of the kids at the Institute
- 2 links where you can see several additional photos showing both the building and the computer lab
Thanks in part to your kind assistance, we have come a mighty long way! The launching of the computer lab is in sight - and just around the corner. We can do this together in 2014!
At this point we need an additional $12,500 to finish the room and purchase the computer desks and chairs, computers, a podium, document scanner, overhead projector and printer.
We would be so grateful if you could join us launch the lab and complete this final lap. Your donation of $50 today will help us get there.
This will provide a training opportunity for hundreds of children and youth in the community - like those pictured in this report. Thank so much for your support!

I now know how to use computers much more than I did previously...
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
Safiatu - computer training beneficiary
Her'e a brief video from Safiatu. Thanks to your support she received computer training. YOU helped to provide this training was a huge benefit to her.
Safiatu is a leader of a local youth organization in Freetown. She tells us in the video that she now knows "how to use computers much more than" she did previously.
This is a huge step forward - as we all know that the more proficient you are the better you can benefit from computer technology. She further tells us in the video:
It is different now and I have much more insight. I am personally happy for the teaching and exposure that I have received. I would like to say a big “Thank You” to everybody who helped to provide this training. I would like to say thank you for the greater ability that I have gained. I will be able to do a lot more.
YOU, through your support, made this possible and we are deeply grateful for your support. Thank you and thank you!
We have received several requests for additional training. Can you help us purchase the needed energy-efficient computers. Please make a donation of $50 today towards this. Thanks for your support!
You can also help by helping us fundraise right here on GlobalGiving. It's easy to do and a great way to help expand your impact. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Thanks again for all you do - helping us empower lives in Africa!
