No Longer Idle

Dear Project Supporters,

Due to the health emergency imposed by the Government of Sierra Leone to control the Ebola epidemic, no form of academic activities was allowed for youths in the Wellington Upper Mellon and Beccle Street community.

We are happy to report that the restrictions were lifted in March 2015 and schools and other learning institutions started functioning again.

Beneficiaries Alfred and Marion were seriously engaged in computer training before the Ebola epidemic hit Sierra Leone.

Unfortunately Marion was not able to continue training because financial reasons required that she assist her aunt’s business in petty trading.

Alfred completed the program on Word and Excel and he is now learning Computerized Accounting together with Joshua. This training will help them learn how businesses and other organizations record their finances and will increase their chances of gaining employment once they complete the course.

They expressed their thanks and appreciation to GlobalGiving for this opportunity to acquire computer training.

“It is the pathway of a dream come true” Joshua said. Joshua wants to be a professional accountant. “Given this opportunity is a great step towards fulfilling that dream. The help I was waiting for has finally come.”

Joshua and Alfred are delighted to attend classes 3 times a week. YOUR kindness has changed the community perception of them. They are no longer idle.

Thank YOU so much for your continued support.

Best Regards,
Develop Africa team
