From Los Angeles to the Amazon: Join the Movement

By Felipe Cincinato | Project Leader

Access to reading in the Amazon has gained a new space for international visibility with the exhibition “The Art of Access, currently on display at the Brazilian Consulate General in Los Angeles. Led by the Readers of the Amazon group, the initiative invites visitors to explore small illustrated libraries created by Brazilian artists and inspired by Amazonian communities. By bringing together different realities, the exhibition expands the dialogue around access to books as a tool for social transformation.

Made up of young people from the United States who are children of BraziliansReaders of the Amazon has been establishing itself as an engaged network that, through creative initiatives and local mobilization, works toward one goal: raising funds to make possible the implementation of a new Vaga Lume library in the Amazon. More than just a physical space, each library represents ongoing access to books, reader development, and community strengthening, expanding opportunities for children and young people within their territories.

The exhibition, which remains open until June 5, marks another step forward for this collective movement, connecting new audiences to the cause and to the impact of reading in the Amazon. For those in Los Angeles, there is still time to visit and become part of this initiative!

By contributing to the campaign, you directly support the creation of the new library and help bring access to reading to more children and young people across the Brazilian Legal Amazon.
