POWER OF GENERATIONAL CHANGE

In the Cangrejal River Basin, a mother and her daughter stand as symbols of deep and lasting change. In the image, they are seen standing side by side, both wearing smiles that reflect pride and strength. The mother shares with heartfelt sincerity how her life has changed thanks to the empowerment of her teenage daughter: "My daughter has been my teacher. Through her, I have learned to understand my rights as a woman, to believe in my abilities, to improve my self-esteem, and to inspire other women in our community." 

For this mother, her daughter’s achievements represent not only progress in the life of a young woman but a total transformation for the entire family. "Before, I never thought about what I truly deserved as a woman. But my daughter has shown me that I have the right to be heard, to be respected, and that my voice holds immense value. Through her example, I have learned to be more confident, to not fear making decisions, and to recognize that I also have the power to lead." 

The impact of her daughter in the community does not stop at their own home. This mother has witnessed how the network of teenage leaders, of which her daughter is a part, has begun to sow change among other women. “My daughter is a light. Not only for me but for all the women around her. With every conversation, with every action, she inspires others to believe in themselves, to question what we once accepted as normal, and to dare to dream of a fairer and more equitable future.” 

This testimony is a living reflection of how Un Mundo's program is transforming not only teenagers but their families and communities. Empowered girls are teaching their mothers to fight for their rights, to walk with confidence, and to be leaders in their own environments. Each mother who has learned from her daughter is now an inspiration to other women, and together they are building a network of support and strength that extends throughout the Cangrejal River Basin.
