Living with any serious illness can impact on your emotional health. People living with HIV/AIDS are more likely to experience mental health problems.
Stigma and discrimination from people who don’t understand HIV/AIDS have negative views about it. This can be very hard to deal with, especially if it comes from people you are close to or if your relationships change as a result.
The covid-19 outbreak pandemic has made it worse for people living with HIV/Aids because they are unable to interact with their peers as they used to do and also meet to encourage each other on positive living. This has led to so many of them having mental health issues including depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
It is against this background that Human Rights First Rwanda Association with its partners organized a series of workshops with women living with HIV/AIDS to sensitize them on issues of mental health and how to assist their peers in coping up with it during this pandemic outbreak.
We thank you for your continued support in making a difference to the marginalized and vulnerable women in Rwanda.
