Human Rights First Rwanda Association organized a two day workshop with local leaders to support its initiative of empowering Hiv/Aids women to live productive lives and Advocating against their Discrimination in the community
The local leaders were taught on HIV and aids related stigma which impedes on the development of the affected people and hence leads to poverty and detrimental of development as whole in the district.
Loss of land and livelyhood by women who are HIV postive because of violence pepetrated by the inlaws after the death of the husband was also discussed since its a major lacuna that these women face.
The leaders after the workshop training affirmed to support initiatives that are pro-active in the fight against discrimination perpetrated to women and people living with HIV/Aids.
