WOW what a great start to the giving season. I am humbled and overwhelmed by your support of the children we serve.

Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. First, let me welcome our new partners who have supported us through the #GivingTuesday particularly those from Balaklava, north of Adelaide; McLaren Vale, South of Adelaide, Salisbury Adelaide South Australia plus Alabama - USA! As well as my board, thank you all. These are the people that I know about, many others I do not have any details, sadly.

Welcome to the KTD196 Community of supporters! I hope you will be inspired by the work we do and be more than satisfied by the impact we are able to achieve through your support!

Secondly, I want to give you feedback about how well Keep The Dream196 performed.

We were ranked number 40 out of over 4,065 competing organizations for this year’s #GivingTuesday appeal in terms of performance that is amazing! We usually around #200.

Through yours and others response we have raised $16,815 which includes $3,163 as bonus from GlobalGiving on one day. Our target for #GivingTuesday was $10,000 so well done everyone and THANK YOU SO MUCH. This equates to nearly 3months running costs. That is huge, awesome job by all.

Thanks to all of you we reached our 2019 target. Now we have the start of the giving season for 2020 and we have an overall target of $80,000 and you have enabled us to reach nearly 25% of that already.

I am very grateful for your support. To access funding is very difficult in this global crisis using traditional means i.e. apply for grants, we are relying heavily on individuals who share our vision to build the future South Africa one child at a time.

What this means in reality is we are able to plan and implement services to more orphaned and vulnerable children aged 5-7yrs in the areas where we function. We will also be able to sustain the current programs we run for the children aged 8-18yrs because of you! In 2019, because of the support we received in 2018 we were able to pilot a new program for the younger children and because of your support we will be able to role the 5-7yr program out to Greater Tzaneen, Mopani and Capricorn Districts which is wonderful.

As you can imagine, this is so exciting for us. Currently we have had to limit the involvement of the younger children because of their age, now we will have a proper program to give them so they will feel a part of KTD196 and have a good foundation for the future.

By supporting us with your year-end gift you are setting us up for January 2020 to jump right in!

Finally, We are SUPER EXCITED to be able to expand and to grow our program. I am looking forward to the work we are going to be able to do, the children we are going to impact in 2020 through your ongoing support.

The lives of the children we shape and the communities we touch are so important and we are so excited that you are going to be a part of this impact. In 2019 we had a donor increase their commitment to us for the purpose of working with the parents/caregivers of the children. During this training we taught guardians about identifying risk factors for their children and how to prevent their children from going down the wrong road. This is a powerful training that has wonderful impact for restoring hope to families. Now because of your support we will be able to continue this program and follow up with the Induna’s (village chiefs) to ensure their action plans they created this year are implemented and real change is brought to their communities into the coming year ahead.

Wow, what an exciting time it is. We are on the verge of #GivingTuesday a day when over 70nations around the world push back from the materialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to give to non-profit organizations who are changing the world on your behalf. We are a grassroots organization that relies on individual donors like you, for the work that we cannot get formally funded through large corporations.  

#GivingTuesday starts on 3rd December at 0001 Eastern Standard Time USA or

0900 Pretoria Time RSA or

1900 Adelaide Australia Time.

Check out where you live the correct time zone. #GivingTuesday lasts for 24hrs however dont fret if you miss the date and time because Global Giving will be operating an end of year campaign until the 31st of December!

At Keep The Dream196 we recognise that not everyone is able to come and see what is happening on the ground in Limpopo, the logistics and resources that are required far out way the financial means of many of our supporters. I know you would visit if you could and you would be most welcome if you would like to see the impact of our work first hand.

Your investment has yielded the following impact to date:

1. Reduced Teenage Pregnancy from 13% to 0.07% within KTD196. 12 girls in 16yrs have become pregnant instead of over 2,000 that would be statistically probable with out KTD196 interventions;

2. Reduced 70% of children involved in crime or victims of crime to 1 child involved in crime in over 14,000 children in 16yrs we have had one child arrested and was deemed incompetent to stand trial;

3. Reduce teenage suicide from 12.7% deaths to 0% in our program;

4. Increase matriculation pass rates from governments 62% to KTD196 pass rate of 90%

 

Are you aware that:

$4 enables one child to attend KTD196’s program for 1 month

$40 gives 2kgs worth of seeds for 25 children to build their own food gardens and develop their farming skills

$200 a month sponsors a group of 50 children attending the program for a month.

$270/month employs a Field Officer to visit the groups and implement the program in 23different groups per month including transport.

$1,500 enables us to take 50 scouts to camp for 5days and train them as HIV Peer Educators, First Aiders and Leadership Skills

 

We need to continue our services to the children of Limpopo Province.  Please partner with us and help us expand our services to touch and change more lives during #GivingTuesday. It is only through your support that this impact is possible. We are changing lives, we are saving lives and we are giving life to hopeless, disenfranchised children that otherwise would become victims of poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, hopelessness and suicide.

On #GivingTuesday the more money we raise in comparison to our peers on GlobalGiving on the 3rd of December, Global Giving is giving $500K in matching funds, so as you donate we get a double share! Can you help us?
