Avuxeni, Minjhani? Ni pfukile, minjani!

Have you noticed how time seems to have sped up? We are already in May, nearly halfway through the year, and while there is so much work ahead, we are pausing to celebrate the incredible resilience of our community.

The recent floods certainly put us behind in terms of training and activities, but we are working overtime to catch up, ensuring no child or adult is left behind.

A Global Stage for Local Success

This past week was a milestone for Keep The Dream196. We hosted representatives from Germany, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini to showcase our programs—specifically our Self-Help Group (SHG) project.

As of yesterday, our impact has grown to:

  • 150 Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • 11 Cluster Level Associations (CLAs)

We are now officially on the path to launching our first Federation later this year! Our guests visited four villages and were welcomed with song, lunch, and deep insights into the ladies' action plans. The visitors were most amazed by the culture of mutual support; every time a woman spoke, the others clapped and encouraged her. It is an environment where every voice matters.

Restoring Dignity, One Uniform at a Time

As the floodwaters recede and roads become accessible, we are finally resuming our Journey of Life trainings. While we look forward, we are still tending to those hit hardest.

Last week, we shared the story of a family who lost everything. Thanks to your support, KTD196 provided:

  • 2 Food parcels and 4 blankets
  • 3 Full sets of school uniforms (including shoes and underwear)

When the mother arrived at the school to meet the teacher (one of our Scouters), she was sobbing so hard the Principal feared something else had gone wrong. Once she could finally speak, she shared that she was simply overwhelmed with gratitude.

Something as simple as a new pair of underwear—a basic item many of us take for granted—represented the restoration of dignity for her children. Imagine the relief of knowing your children can return to school with pride despite losing their home.

Thank You for Being the Difference

Beyond the uniforms, our staff have personally donated second-hand clothing and toys to help this family as they settle into their grandmother’s home.

Your donations are the engine behind this work. Because of you, we can respond to emergencies while simultaneously building long-term systemic change through our SHGs.

Thank you for continuing to give. You are changing lives in Limpopo.

 Blessings

Louise
