In December 2023, AFAWI, in collaboration with The Good Roll Foundation and Nalú Care distributed 3600 sanitary pads to 41 female students at Bob School in Accra, in order to provide a lasting supply of menstrual products for adolescents in need. Our team further hosted training sessions on puberty and menstruation for boys and girls. As part of that, we explained the usage and availability of different menstrual products and spoke up against associated stigmatization. In the nexts months more training sessions and donations of menstrual products are planned.
The year 2024 has started and some amazing progress was made in the project. We received an individual donations towards the project, which will be used to purchase reusable sanitary pads for female students.
Furthermore AFAWI had an introductory meeting with the co-founder Josephina Ababio of the THC Foundation, our new partner for the Eccachild and Empowering Girls Project in Ashongman cluster of schools.
We are excited to start this new partnership and looking forward to support students at school!
