Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines

By Kajubi Jimmy | Project Leader

Dear Donors

The Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project in Namakwa Village, Nakisunga Subcounty, Mukono District, continues to prepare girls for practical skills training in tailoring and sewing. The girls remain eager to begin their training and are looking forward to gaining skills that can help them become more confident, creative, and independent.

Karitas Relief Mission has continued engaging with the girls and the community as preparations for the training progress. The girls have shown strong interest in learning how to operate sewing machines, make simple garments, and develop practical tailoring skills. The project is focused on creating an opportunity for girls to learn skills that they can use both at home and in their communities.

The training will also encourage teamwork, discipline, creativity, and confidence among the participants. Through practical lessons, the girls will gradually learn how to use sewing machines safely, take measurements, cut fabric, sew basic items, and improve their tailoring techniques.

At present, the girls are eagerly waiting for the training sessions to begin. Their enthusiasm demonstrates the importance of providing practical skills opportunities for girls in the community. Karitas Relief Mission will continue working with the girls and community members to ensure that the training is organized in a supportive and accessible environment.

Current Situation

The girls are ready and motivated to learn. Continued preparation and engagement are taking place so that the training can begin smoothly and the participants can benefit fully from the program.

Next Steps

- Begin practical sewing and tailoring training.

- Introduce the girls to safe operation of sewing machines.

- Provide hands-on lessons in basic tailoring skills.

- Monitor participation and progress throughout the training.

- Encourage the girls to practice and develop their skills.

- Continue engaging the community in supporting the girls' learning.

Karitas Relief Mission remains committed to helping vulnerable girls gain practical skills, confidence, and opportunities for a more self-reliant future.
