Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines

The Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project in Namakwa Village, Nakisunga Subcounty, Mukono District, continues to create excitement and hope among the girls who are preparing to begin their sewing and tailoring training.

Today, the girls remained eager to learn and develop practical skills that can help them become more confident and self-reliant. The project team continues to engage with the girls and prepare them for the training sessions, including introducing them to the sewing machines and explaining how the machines will be used safely and effectively.

The girls are particularly excited about learning how to make clothes and other useful items. Many of them see the training as an opportunity to discover their talents, gain practical knowledge, and develop skills that they can use in their communities.

The project currently targets 156 girls, and we are continuing to organize the training process so that the participants can learn step by step. Beyond learning how to operate a sewing machine, the girls will also be encouraged to develop creativity, patience, teamwork, and confidence.

The enthusiasm among the girls shows that practical skills training can give young people a positive direction and hope for their future. We look forward to seeing the girls begin their lessons and gradually progress from basic machine operation to producing their own sewing work.
