Dear Donors
Today, we gathered together with the girls participating in the Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project. The meeting provided an opportunity for the girls to come together, share their thoughts, express their hopes, and discuss how learning practical skills can contribute to their future.
During the gathering, each girl had an opportunity to give her opinion about the project and what she hopes to gain from the training. The girls expressed happiness and excitement about the possibility that, one day, they will be able to sit in a classroom and receive practical knowledge and skills that can help them improve their lives.
Many of the girls shared that they are looking forward to learning sewing and other practical skills that can help them become more self-reliant. They explained that education and vocational training can give them the confidence and ability to create opportunities for themselves rather than depending entirely on others.
Girls’ Voices and Expectations
The girls expressed that they are happy to have an opportunity to learn. They believe that being in class, gaining knowledge, and practicing sewing skills will help them develop themselves and prepare for a better future.
They also shared their hope that learning will enable them to eventually use their skills to make clothes, earn an income, support their families, and possibly train or employ other girls in their communities.
One common message from the girls was that skills can give them hope, confidence, and a pathway toward independence.
Progress Toward Empowerment
Today’s gathering was an important step in strengthening the girls’ participation in the project. Although the sewing machines are the main practical tool of the project, the girls emphasized that the knowledge and training they receive will be equally important.
The project aims to serve 156 girls, giving them access to practical sewing skills that can contribute to their personal development and future economic opportunities.
Results and Impact
- 156 girls are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
- Girls were given an opportunity to express their views and expectations.
- The girls demonstrated enthusiasm for learning practical skills.
- Participants connected education and vocational training with self-reliance and empowerment.
- The gathering strengthened the girls’ motivation and hope for the future.
- Girls expressed interest in using sewing skills to create income-generating opportunities.
Challenges
The major challenge remains ensuring that the girls have adequate access to sewing machines, training materials, and a suitable learning environment. Continued support is needed so that their hopes can become a practical reality.
Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission will continue mobilizing support for the project so that more girls can access sewing machines and structured practical training. We will continue listening to the girls, documenting their progress, and supporting them as they develop skills that can contribute to their future independence.
Conclusion
Today’s gathering reminded us that empowerment begins with giving girls an opportunity to learn, speak, dream, and develop practical skills. The happiness and hope expressed by the girls showed how much they value the opportunity to gain knowledge.
With continued support, these girls can move from simply hoping for a better future to acquiring the skills and confidence needed to help build that future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
