Dear Donors
Karitas Relief Mission continues to empower vulnerable girls through practical sewing and tailoring skills. The project is designed to help girls gain useful vocational skills that can improve their confidence, independence, and future opportunities for earning a livelihood.
A total of 156 girls are being reached through this initiative.
2. Progress This Reporting Period
During this reporting period, the girls continued participating in sewing-related learning and discussions. The girls were given an opportunity to share their experiences, challenges, and opinions about the training.
Their participation has shown growing interest in learning skills that can help them become more self-reliant. The girls are learning that sewing can provide not only a practical skill but also an opportunity to create products for their families and communities and potentially earn an income in the future.
3. Training Progress
The girls are being introduced to important areas of sewing and tailoring, including:
- Understanding and safely handling sewing machines.
- Basic sewing techniques.
- Measuring and cutting fabric.
- Joining and stitching pieces of fabric.
- Making simple garments and useful household items.
- Developing creativity and confidence through practical work.
- Understanding how sewing skills can contribute to future income generation.
The practical nature of the training is helping the girls connect classroom learning with skills they can use in everyday life.
4. Why the Sewing Machines Matter
Access to sewing machines is essential to the success of this project. Without enough machines, girls have limited opportunities to practice consistently.
The project therefore continues to mobilize additional sewing machines and resources so that more girls can have adequate time for hands-on training.
For the 156 girls being reached, having access to appropriate equipment can make the difference between simply learning about sewing and actually developing the practical skills needed for future livelihood opportunities.
5. Challenges
The project continues to face several challenges:
- There are not enough sewing machines to provide adequate practice opportunities for all the girls.
- Limited financial resources make it difficult to purchase additional machines and training materials.
- Some girls come from families with limited economic opportunities.
- Continued mentorship and practical training are needed to help the girls develop their skills.
6. Community Impact
The project is creating an opportunity for girls to acquire practical skills in a supportive environment. The girls are increasingly able to express their ideas and discuss how vocational skills could help them in the future.
Karitas Relief Mission believes that investing in girls' skills can contribute to stronger families and communities by giving young women practical tools for becoming more economically independent.
7. Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission plans to:
1. Continue practical sewing training for the 156 girls.
2. Mobilize additional sewing machines.
3. Provide more sewing and tailoring materials.
4. Strengthen practical, hands-on training.
5. Encourage the girls to continue developing their skills.
6. Explore opportunities for advanced tailoring and entrepreneurship training.
7. Continue documenting the girls' progress and achievements.
8. Conclusion
The Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project continues to provide 156 girls with an opportunity to learn practical vocational skills and build confidence for their future.
The girls' participation and willingness to share their experiences demonstrate the importance of providing them with continued training and access to sewing equipment.
Karitas Relief Mission is grateful to all supporters who are helping us create opportunities for these girls. With additional sewing machines and continued support, we hope to reach more girls and give them the practical skills they need to build more secure and independent futures.
