Dear Donors
Karitas Relief Mission continues to empower vulnerable girls through practical sewing and tailoring skills. The project is designed to give girls an opportunity to develop vocational skills that can help them become more self-reliant, earn an income in the future, and contribute positively to their families and communities.
A total of 156 girls are being reached through this initiative.
Progress This Period
During this reporting period, we continued engaging with the girls and following their progress in sewing training. The girls have been actively participating in practical sessions and learning how to use sewing machines safely and correctly.
The training is helping the girls move from basic knowledge toward practical skills that they can use to make useful items and eventually establish small income-generating activities.
The girls have also been given an opportunity to share their experiences, challenges, and ideas about the training. Their participation and enthusiasm continue to encourage the Karitas Relief Mission team.
Training Progress
The girls are continuing to develop skills in areas including:
- Introduction to sewing machines and their safe operation.
- Threading and preparing sewing machines.
- Basic stitching techniques.
- Measuring and cutting fabric.
- Joining pieces of fabric correctly.
- Making simple garments and household items.
- Developing accuracy and confidence in sewing.
- Learning how sewing skills can become a source of future income.
The practical nature of the training is particularly important because the girls are gaining skills through hands-on experience rather than only classroom instruction.
Voices and Participation of the Girls
The girls have continued to give their opinions about the project and explain how learning sewing is giving them hope for their future. They are interested in improving their skills and becoming capable of producing items that can be sold within their communities.
Their participation has also helped us understand the additional support needed to make the training more effective.
Challenges
The main challenge remains the limited number of sewing machines compared with the number of girls who need practical training. Because many girls are being served, access to machines must be shared, which can limit the amount of individual practice each girl receives.
Additional sewing machines, training materials, fabric, thread, and other supplies would allow more girls to practice regularly and improve their skills faster.
Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission will continue:
1. Providing practical sewing training to the 156 girls.
2. Strengthening hands-on practice and technical skills.
3. Mobilizing additional sewing machines and training materials.
4. Encouraging girls to develop confidence and independence.
5. Supporting girls to use their skills for future income-generating opportunities.
6. Monitoring the progress and achievements of the girls throughout the project.
Conclusion
The Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project is giving 156 girls an opportunity to learn practical skills that can contribute to a more secure future. Every sewing lesson represents an opportunity for a girl to gain confidence, develop a useful skill, and prepare herself for economic independence.
Karitas Relief Mission is grateful to all supporters who continue to believe in the potential of these girls. With additional sewing machines and continued support, we can provide more opportunities for the girls to practice, improve their skills, and build sustainable livelihoods.
