Dear Donors
Karitas Relief Mission continues to implement the “Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines” project, which aims to provide vulnerable girls with practical sewing and tailoring skills that can help them become self-reliant and improve their future opportunities.
The project is targeting 156 girls who have expressed interest in acquiring vocational skills.
Recent Activities
During our recent follow-up, Karitas Relief Mission continued engaging with the girls and the staff responsible for the training program. The girls shared their expectations and explained how important the opportunity is to them.
Many of the girls are eager to begin their training but come from families that cannot afford vocational education and the necessary equipment. They expressed hope that the project will give them an opportunity to learn skills that they can later use to earn an income.
We also continued discussions on the preparation of the classrooms where the girls will receive their sewing and tailoring lessons.
Importance of the Sewing Machines
The sewing machines will provide practical learning opportunities for the girls and enable them to develop skills in:
- Sewing and tailoring.
- Making clothes and other useful items.
- Repairing and modifying garments.
- Developing small income-generating businesses.
- Becoming more financially independent.
The machines will also allow the girls to practice what they learn rather than relying only on theoretical instruction.
Challenges
The major challenge remains the shortage of resources needed to provide enough sewing machines and support the training of all the girls who have expressed interest.
Some girls are ready and willing to start learning but lack the funds required to access vocational training. Karitas Relief Mission is therefore continuing to mobilize support so that these girls can be included in the program.
Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission will continue working with the staff and girls to prepare for the training program. We will also continue mobilizing resources to purchase additional sewing machines and provide the necessary training materials.
Our goal is to ensure that the 156 targeted girls have an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can help them build sustainable livelihoods.
Conclusion
The enthusiasm shown by the girls demonstrates the importance of this project. They are not simply asking for assistance; they are asking for an opportunity to learn, work, and build independent futures.
Karitas Relief Mission remains committed to empowering these girls through vocational training and looks forward to seeing them gain skills that can transform their lives, families, and communities.
