Karitas Relief Mission continues to implement the Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project, which aims to equip vulnerable and disadvantaged girls with practical sewing and tailoring skills. The project is designed to help girls gain skills that can lead to income-generating opportunities, greater self-reliance, and improved livelihoods. 2. Activities Conducted During the reporting period, Karitas Relief Mission continued engaging with the staff, directors, and girls who are expected to participate in the training program. We inspected the classrooms where the girls will receive their practical and theoretical training and discussed the preparations needed to ensure that the learning environment is suitable for vocational education. We also interacted with some of the girls who expressed their excitement and willingness to begin learning. Several girls explained that they have a strong desire to acquire tailoring skills but have previously lacked the financial resources and equipment needed to pursue such training. 3. Progress and Achievements The project has made encouraging progress: - 156 girls have been identified as the target group for the project. - Training facilities have been inspected and preparations are continuing. - Girls have expressed strong interest and motivation to participate. - Staff and project stakeholders have been engaged in planning the training activities. - The project is creating an opportunity for girls to acquire practical skills that can support their future livelihoods. The enthusiasm shown by the girls has strengthened our commitment to ensuring that the project reaches those who need it most. 4. Impact Expected Through sewing and tailoring training, the girls will be able to develop practical skills that they can use to make clothing and other products. In the long term, these skills can help them seek employment, establish small businesses, generate income, and contribute to their families and communities. The project is therefore not only about providing sewing machines; it is about giving girls skills, confidence, hope, and opportunities for a more independent future. 5. Challenges The major challenge remains the availability of sufficient resources to provide the necessary sewing machines and support the training of all the girls in the target group. Many girls are eager to begin, but limited resources can delay their participation. 6. Next Steps Karitas Relief Mission will continue to: - Mobilize resources for additional sewing machines. - Prepare the training classrooms and equipment. - Enroll girls into the vocational training program. - Work with trainers to provide practical sewing and tailoring lessons. - Monitor the girls' progress and document the skills they acquire. - Explore opportunities for the girls to use their skills for income generation after training. 7. Conclusion The Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project is receiving encouraging interest from the girls and the local stakeholders. Their enthusiasm demonstrates the importance of providing practical vocational opportunities to young girls who have limited access to skills training. Karitas Relief Mission remains committed to helping these girls acquire valuable skills that can contribute to their dignity, self-reliance, and future economic opportunities. Karitas Relief Mission
