Karitas Relief Mission continues its commitment to empowering vulnerable girls through practical vocational training in sewing and tailoring. The *Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines* project aims to equip girls with valuable skills that will help them become self-reliant, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to the economic development of their families and communities.
Many girls are eager to acquire vocational skills but face financial challenges that prevent them from enrolling in training programs. This project seeks to address these barriers by creating opportunities for girls to learn, develop their talents, and build a more secure future.
2. Activities Conducted
As part of the project's ongoing preparation, Karitas Relief Mission held a meeting with staff, directors, and some of the girls interested in joining the vocational training program.
During the meeting, the team discussed the girls' interest in acquiring sewing and tailoring skills, the preparations required for training, and the resources needed to make the program successful.
The team also inspected the classrooms where the girls will undertake their training. This inspection helped assess the available learning environment and identify the preparations needed before training begins.
The girls who participated in the meeting expressed great enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn. Several shared their challenges, explaining that they lack the financial resources necessary to join vocational training. Karitas Relief Mission encouraged them and assured them that the organization remains committed to seeking support to help them participate when the necessary resources become available.
3. Target Beneficiaries
The project aims to reach **156 girls** who need access to vocational training and economic empowerment opportunities.
The beneficiaries are expected to gain practical sewing and tailoring skills that can help them pursue self-employment, establish small businesses, obtain employment, and support themselves and their families.
4. Progress Achieved
The project has made encouraging progress in the preparation stage.
-Stakeholder engagement: Staff, directors, and interested girls participated in discussions about the training program.
- Classroom inspection: The proposed training classrooms were inspected to assess their suitability for learning.
- Beneficiary interest: The girls demonstrated strong enthusiasm and willingness to acquire practical skills.
- Identification of challenges: Financial barriers affecting the girls' ability to enroll were clearly identified.
- Continued commitment: Karitas Relief Mission reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing resources and creating opportunities for the girls to participate in training.
These achievements demonstrate that there is a genuine need for the project and a strong willingness among the intended beneficiaries to participate.
5. Challenges Encountered
The main challenge remains inadequate funding. Although many girls are eager to begin their training, some cannot afford the costs associated with enrollment and participation.
Additional resources are also needed to provide sewing machines and other essential training materials, ensuring that the girls have the equipment necessary to develop their practical skills.
6. Expected Outcomes
Once the necessary resources are secured and training begins, the project expects to:
- Provide vocational training opportunities for 156 girls.
- Equip the girls with practical sewing and tailoring skills.
- Improve their prospects for employment and self-employment.
- Encourage entrepreneurship and small-business development.
- Reduce economic vulnerability and dependence.
- Strengthen the girls' confidence, independence, and participation in community development.
7. Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission will continue preparing for the implementation of the training program by mobilizing financial support, seeking additional sewing machines, and identifying the materials required for effective practical learning.
The organization will also continue engaging with the interested girls and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the program responds to the beneficiaries' needs. Once sufficient resources are available, the girls will be supported to enroll and begin their vocational training.
8. Conclusion and Appeal for Support
The "Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines" project is an important investment in the future of vulnerable girls. The recent meeting and classroom inspection confirmed the girls' eagerness to learn and highlighted the financial challenges that continue to stand in their way.
Karitas Relief Mission believes that every girl deserves an opportunity to acquire practical skills, develop her potential, and work toward a dignified and independent future.
We therefore appeal to our generous donors, partners, and well-wishers to support this initiative by contributing toward sewing machines, training materials, and the costs of vocational education.
Together, we can empower 156 girls with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
